Greg Warren serves as a Partner and Consulting Actuary with Axene Health Partners.  Greg has worked as a health care actuary for over 25 years, providing strategic and financial risk guidance to payers, providers, employers, pharmacies and life sciences manufacturers in the public and private healthcare markets.

Greg’s expertise includes actuarial projections and pricing, analytical and financial reporting, benefit plan design and vendor negotiations, clinical and pharmacy program strategy and value-based contracting design, negotiation and administration for Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial Health Plans, State and Federal Government entities, Accountable Care Organizations, Self-Funded Employers, Pharmacy Benefit Managers, Pharmacies and Life Sciences Companies.

Greg previously served as Chief Actuary of Optum Advisory Services with leadership responsibility for over 270 associates delivering over $120 million in consulting and modeling services in Commercial Actuarial, Government Program Actuarial, Trend Analytics, Underwriting and Pharmacy Advisory practice areas.

Greg also previously led the client reporting, business analytics and sales finance areas of a Fortune 50 company operating some of the largest retail, mail and specialty pharmacy operations in North America.  He additionally held executive responsibilities in a large pharmacy benefit manager overseeing the finance, underwriting, actuarial, client reporting, business analytics and pharmacy network relations functions.

Greg also has experience as a Senior Health Actuary for a national benefits consulting firm where he served in project management and client consulting roles in the Health & Wellness practice.  In this capacity he helped clients with budget projections, budget variance analyses, vendor proposal solicitation and evaluation, vendor audits, claims reserving, plan design modeling and new program evaluations.  He concurrently served as the Midwest Coordinator for all Pharmacy Benefits Consulting services provided by that firm to its clients.

Greg started his career working for health insurance companies in their traditional actuarial departments focusing on group and individual health insurance pricing, reserving, plan design and trend factor development, rating system maintenance and managed care network analysis.

Greg is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Fellow in the Conference of Consulting Actuaries. He graduated from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois with a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Mathematics and Economics. He serves as the Pharmacy Subgroup Chair for the Society of Actuaries’ Health Section Council and has led the SOA’s two Pharmacy research initiatives during 2019 through 2021.  He is also a frequent presenter at actuarial, benefits, and industry conferences often presenting on topics related to the pharmacy, pharmacy benefits and life sciences industries.
